Mental Health Nurse Program
Is a Federally funded program run through Prospect Medical Centre providing Mental Health Nurse support in the Northern Tasmania.
The program is targeted to patients who suffer from a mental illness and are currently being managed by their GP or private Pyschiatrist.

What is Mental Health Nurse
Mental Health Nursing is a specialised branch of nursing with a focus on the care of people with mental health problems.
Mental Health Nurses work alongside individuals and their families, and or carers to assist patients to overcome the symptoms of their illness and to continue their personal recovery.
Mental Health Nurses work with GPs and private Psychiatrists as part of a team providing clinical support to patients who have a current Mental Health Care Plan.
What the Mental Health Nurse will provide?
The nurse will provide assessments, therapeutic interventions, medication monitoring, mental state assessment, family support, care coordination and referral to appropriate services.
How can patients become involved with the program?
Patients need to be referred to the program by their GP or Psychiatrist.
